Week commencing 11th January only – we will be providing all residents with a refuse collection regardless if it should be your refuse or recycling collection. Please present your refuse wheelie bin for collection. We are doing this as we are aware some residents have missed out on a refuse collection due to the bank holiday changes and the severe weather conditions which we have experienced this week.

All collections will return to normal week commencing Monday 18th January- obviously this is weather permitting!

Missed collections due to weather conditions.

This week has seen Rother experiencing adverse weather conditions.  Due to the snow and ice creating dangerous road conditions, refuse and recycling collections were suspended today (Thursday). We will be returning as soon as conditions have improved for our vehicles to gain access safely. If your wheelie bin or recycling boxes aren’t collected on the specified day due to the weather please leave them out at the collection point and the crews will collect them as soon as possible.

Using your recycling boxes is just one step among many that we can all take to deal with the problem of waste. Other ways include using charity shops, reusing carrier bags and composting in your own garden. Further information is available on the Melton Borough Council web site, or even more is on the web site of WRAP, an organisation that advises on reducing waste.

Happy New Year!

This year garden waste collections have been suspended between Christmas and into the new year to offer residents an extra refuse collection to cope with the additional waste. Please note all collections revert back to normal Monday 11th January.

P.s Remember the local ‘bring sites’ have bottle banks to recycle glass!

Recycling Collections for flats

This week has seen the start of the trial recycling scheme for the 16 flats in Bexhill. Collections seemed to have gone well, and residents are participating which is great news! On the down side there have been a few offending items presented in the recycling wheelie bins for collection which has caused contamination. Unfortunately we don’t collect glass, cardboard or coat hangers so these items shouldn’t be presented in the recycling wheelie bins. Recycling wheelie bins are clearly labelled plastic bottles/ tins and cans only on one wheelie bin and paper and magazines only on the other wheelie bin.

If anyone needs assistnace with their recycling I’ll happily help or you can take a look at Rother Distirct Council’s website for the latest information http://www.rother.gov.uk/
